The Panoramic Sunset Hike

  • The Best Sunset Spot Pha Na Yak is incredibly popular for sunset viewing. The sight of the evening light hitting the cliff and the ocean is truly romantic and stunning.
  • Trail Runner’s Retreat The viewpoint area has a wide clearing and is also part of the island’s trail running routes, often frequented by those seeking an adventurous workout.

Location and Access

Pha Na Yak is located on a hill before you reach Nual Beach on the southern side of the island. Getting there is a bit of a challenge.

Navigation Set your GPS toward Nual Beach and follow the road.

Entrance About 500 meters before Nual Beach, look for a wide grassy field or a roadside pavilion on your right-hand side. This is where the unmarked entrance is.

The Challenging Route

No Clear Signage Because there are no official signs, it’s earned its reputation as a “secret spot.”

Motorbike Ride You must drive a motorbike into the path, which can be difficult due to numerous potholes and a road that is quite steep or bumpy. Experience driving a motorbike is highly recommended.

Final Trek You may need to continue on foot past a gated section, trekking through some brush or climbing a trail. (The walk up isn’t long, but it is quite tiring.)

Best Time to Visit & Safety Tips

  • Slippery Paths The walking trail can be slippery in some spots, especially where you traverse through the brush.
  • Stay Hydrated The climb is strenuous, so bring drinking water with you.
  • Appropriate Footwear Wear sturdy shoes suitable for hiking or climbing, not flip-flops.

In Summary

If you are an adventurous traveler who isn’t afraid of a little climb and you want a truly spectacular panoramic view, Pha Na Yak is a challenging but incredibly rewarding spot on Koh Larn.
